One of the most common topics we get asked is how to lay the perfect shed concrete slab for your new shed. when building any kind of steel shed, the strongest and most durable flooring is the trusty concrete slab. but when it comes to laying your slab, it’s important to get it right. if you don’t know what you’re doing, you’re likely to waste a lot of time and money, and create headaches.. Concrete makes a permanent slab on which to build or place your shed, but it is brittle. it needs reinforcement to give it added tensile strength and to prevent cracking. you can use steel rebar, or steel mesh, or opt for having synthetic fiber added to the concrete before pouring.. After 24 hours you can walk on your slab, although it will take about 1 month for your slab to ‘fully harden' (apparently it took the hoover dam 2 years to fully harden). if your just building a shed on it, you can start doing that in 2 weeks..

Concrete shed foundations vary in thickness, depending on the size and weight of the shed and the soil conditions, local climate and use of the shed. a large shed used to store lawn tractors and similar heavy equipment will need a thicker slab than a small potting shed. a slab on good, firm soil may be thinner than one on sandy or less stable.
